Year 11 at Kingsmeadow
Making the most of the Easter break
Many students look forward to a well-earned break at Easter, however, this period also offers a valuable opportunity to prepare for upcoming exams. Our Easter revision sessions play a key role in boosting confidence, improving understanding, and helping students achieve their academic goals.
One of the main advantages of revising during Easter is the uninterrupted time available. Without the usual pressures of a full school timetable, students can focus more deeply on subjects they find challenging, and our structured revision sessions are helping to create a routine that keeps learning on track while still leaving room for relaxation. Our Easter timetable is below.

Raising attainment sessions and revision support
We are fully committed to supporting our Year 11 students to achieve the best possible outcomes in their mock exams in January, and in the summer GCSE exam series. That is why we provide students with Raising Attainment Sessions (RAS) over four days every week. We provided over 25,000 of these sessions last year!
RAS are subject interventions to support our students to reach a higher grade. They are individually assigned based upon the students progress in Year 10, and indicate that they have progress to make in the selected RAS subject.
This is one part of the preparation to equip our students. Other support is available from individual subject teachers, including our after school revision sessions.
After school revision sessions
In showing commitment to their learning, our Year 11 students are encouraged to attend additional revision sessions when advised by their teacher.
Revision sessions are planned and tailored for specific knowledge needs that are identified through Key Assessment and teacher class marking. If a student is invited to a session, it is because they need to revise the information taught in that session. It is not a sanction for not doing well or not completing work.
We offer many opportunities for our Year 11 students to complete extra revision and extend their learning through our revision sessions. In some subjects, such as Art, this is a valuable time to complete coursework.
Beating the forgetting curve revision resources
To help recall their learning, we provide our Year 11 students with a list of questions on a range of subjects each week. They are an invaluable revision resource, and we use them in school to ask students some quick-fire questions too. Download the weekly list of questions at the links below. Please note, there were no questions in weeks 1 or 9 of school.

Maths revision resources
To ensure they are exam ready, we ask our Year 11 maths students to use the Maths PiXL app as part of their revision. We encourage students to use this app every other day to keep on top of their learning.
