Moving from primary to secondary school
We are delighted that you have chosen Kingsmeadow Community School for your child, and we look forward to developing a positive and supportive relationship with you, that will ensure your child is happy and successful.
A smooth transition between schools is important in preparing students for their learning. While moving to secondary school is exciting, it is also a change, and it is natural that students and parents and carers can feel anxious about the process. We aim to make the transfer from primary to secondary school as easy as possible and work hard to make sure that our new students are well-prepared.
Addressing anxiety
We appreciate that students, and their parents and carers may feel anxious about the move to another school. We are always here to help.
A supportive process
Our aim is to make the transition as easy and informative as possible.
Contact information
It is important for parents and carers to provide the school with accurate contact details so we can reach out with any queries about the transition process.
Handy tips for parents
Here are some of the ways you can support your child to ensure that they settle in quickly to their new school.
School bag | Check they have this with them when they leave for school. |
Remember the four P’s | Pen, pencil, school planner and PE kit (on the days they have PE) |
Homework | Make sure your child completes this each evening. Also, check that all homework activities are being recorded in their school planner. If your child is not getting homework, please contact the school. |
Accelerated Reader book | Check your child has their book with them and is reading for at least twenty minutes every day. |
Remember, if you have any concerns about any aspect of your child’s progress or transition to Kingsmeadow, please contact the school. Email enquiries@kingsmeadow.org.uk or phone 0191 460 6004.
