Exams and performance

It was a pleasure to welcome back our Year 11 and Year 13 students in summer 2024 as they came in to school to collect their exam results. We shared in their joy at their successes and supported them with advice and contacts for their next steps. We are so proud of everything that they have achieved in their time here at Kingsmeadow Community School. Our students have displayed our core values of Integrity, Resilience and Respect, which has led to their successes in this year’s results.

At Key Stage 5, we were so pleased that every student achieved enough to move on to their next step in life. All students achieved high enough grades to get into university, with almost every student getting into either their first or second choice. A wonderful achievement coming from their hard work.

At Key Stage 4 we saw some excellent performances, such as: over 30% of the students achieving a pass or better in the European Baccalaureate; forty-four of the top grades of 8 or 9; half of the students achieving well in both English and Mathematics. As with the Year 13 students, we are pleased to say that most of our Year 11 students achieved what they needed to move on to their chosen next steps in education or employment. We are looking forward to welcoming many of them back to our Sixth Form next year, in what will be a very strong Year 12 cohort.

At Key Stage 5 students successfully achieved their first choice UCAS places. Almost one third of all grades achieved were at least an A and two thirds achieved a B or higher, with notable successes in Business, Psychology and Sociology.

Other successes in Year 13 included Skye Forster who achieved a superb set of A Level outcomes achieving AAA and plans to go on to study Dentistry. Joe Wright and Shea McGuinness, who were supported by the Special Educational Needs team, both performed brilliantly in their BTEC and A Levels achieving Level 3 Distinction* and Distinctions and moved on to Northumbria University to study Psychology.

At GCSE level, English, Maths and Science performed well with science continuing its upward trajectory in outcomes. Spanish once again out-performed comparative data from previous years. Ninety-one percent of the cohort entered the European Baccalaureate (EBACC), with 27% achieving the qualification. The result was above previous year’s outcomes and was above the national average.

Notable successes in Year 11 include Gracie Lauder, who achieved ten strong passes, which included four Grade 9s, which was superb.
