WHY CHOOSE KINGSMEADOW SIXTH FORM?

Welcome to Kingsmeadow Sixth Form. I would like to thank you for considering us in this important decision regarding your educational journey. We are a brand new sixth form with its own sixth form centre, ICT facilities and a sixth form pastoral team dedicated to the wellbeing of year 12 and 13 students.

 

At Kingsmeadow, high expectations are placed upon our students,with regard to both work and behaviour. We trust them to respect the increased freedom they will experience throughout their A-level studies and demonstrate high levels of self-reliance and maturity.

Life as a sixth form student begins with an induction week, during which time students focus on study and employability skills, communication, independent learning and standards. This is an opportunity for students to alleviate any anxieties they may have about sixth form and begin to organise themselves for the increased demands of post-16 study.

Kingsmeadow is open to any post-16 student, provided that they are committed to their studies and meet the requirements of individual courses.

 

At Kingsmeadow, we offer a range of academic A Levels and some vocational subjects. We work closely with the students throughout their GCSEs to ensure they make the course choices that best suit their interest, ability and needs. Unlike other sixth forms, we keep class sizes small to ensure that every student has the dedicated time and focus they need.

 

We are proud to say that we can boast a success rate of almost 100%. Students tell us that they enjoy their time with us and their experiences, including comprehensive enrichment and careers guidance packages, make them attractive candidates for employers and universities.

 

In September 2021, Ofsted rated Kingsmeadow school as ‘good’. Some of the highlights are below:

 

• Leaders of the sixth form are passionate and determined to ensure its success. Every effort has been made to accommodate students’ choice of courses. Teaching is well pitched and challenges  students.

• [Students] apply themselves well in lessons. They work calmly and studiously... Lessons in the sixth form challenge students’ thinking.
