Getting the best out of Key Stage 4

The transition to Key Stage 4 marks the beginning of your child’s GCSE and Level 2 vocational studies. From the start of Year 10, students’ learning is focused on developing the knowledge, skills and independent learning habits they need to succeed in their GCSE courses and achieve their full potential in external examinations. These qualifications are a crucial milestone, unlocking future pathways in further education, apprenticeships and employment.

The foundations that students establish during Year 10 have a significant impact on their progress, achievement and future opportunities. That is why we work closely with parents and carers and share important information about the requirements and expectations of Key Stage 4 study, as well as the support available to students throughout this vital stage of their education.

Our clear, practical guidance about what lies ahead for those beginning Key Stage 4 explains how we want to work with parents and carers to ensure their child is well prepared to succeed in their GCSEs and reach their full potential.  You can download this information at the link below.

Beating the forgetting curve

To help recall their learning, we provide our students with a list of questions on a range of subjects each week. They are an invaluable revision resource, and we use them in school to ask students some quick-fire questions too.  Download the weekly list of questions at the links below.
