Our alumni

Last year, 100% of our students who applied to go to university secured a place. In recent years, our students have progressed to universities including Newcastle, Northumbria, Leeds, Durham, Sunderland and Edinburgh to begin the next stage in their educational journey.

Amelia studied Mathematics, Physics, Sociology and AS Further Mathematics A-Levels in our Sixth Form and after receiving her fantastic grades, went on to study Business Accounting with Finance at Leeds Beckett University.

Amelia’s future career plan is to become a Chartered Accountant or a Financial Analyst.

When it comes to revision, Amelia’s advice is to start early! Build up to the amount of revision that you do and use your time wisely. Once you’ve found a way to revise that works for you, stick to it. Always remember that practise questions are your best friends, along with your teachers. If you’re struggling with something, ask as soon as you can. Revision time is hard work, so make sure you take time for you – watch a movie, walk the dog and surround yourself with positivity in both the people and the things that you love.

Libby studied maths, psychology and sport studies in our Sixth Form and after achieving the grades she needed is now studying for a degree in Professional Dance and Musical Theatre at Bird College in London.

From an early age dancing has been a big part of her life and she knew that it would be a career choice. Her dream now is to work on stage in the West End of London, and with touring theatre companies, and on board cruise ships, and her Sixth Form studies at Kingsmeadow have allowed her move on to higher education to be able to achieve those dreams.

Libby believes that the experience of studying in the Sixth Form has helped her to become a better-rounded person. Her advice to students is to always remind themselves of why they are studying to stay motivated towards their end goal.

Libby Donnelly

Katie Rose studied Business, Computing and English, in our Sixth Form.

Her studies and qualifications helped her gain a role with the Ministry of Justice in its IT Department and she plans on working her way up the ranks in a profession she loves.

Katie Rose’s advice is to never give up, even when  study and revision seem difficult and never going to end – you need to keep pushing. She reminds our students that resilience isn’t about being immune to difficulties, it’s about being able to face them with courage and determination.

Aimee studied Spanish and Biology at A-level alongside Sport at BTEC Level 3 and after achieving the grades she needed she is now studying Physiotherapy at the University of Sunderland.
Aimee’s future career plan is to finish her degree and become a Chartered Physiotherapist.

Aimee advises applying for a place on a Supported Progression programme that starts in Year 12. These offer a range of support and opportunities prior to university, including getting to experience student life and preparing for university applications.

In further guidance, Aimee also advises that the adapting of a personal statement to different courses is useful, especially to those who are still open to ideas about their future career.

Liam studied Physics, Maths and Geography A-Level at Kingsmeadow, and after receiving the grades he needed, and opting to gain experience in the world of work, he secured a management role whilst studying Level 3 in Leadership and Management.  His career plan was always to join the Armed Forces and he’ll join the RAF in 2025.

Liam’s advice to current students is that you get out what you put in, and whilst revision is challenging and sometimes difficult, it’s extremely important that you have fun too!

Julius studied A Level mathematics, chemistry and biology in our Sixth Form and after achieving the grades they needed, moved on to Newcastle University to study Biomedical Sciences.

Julius is currently working as a Street Scientist, a science communication role delivering STEM concepts in a fun and accessible way in primary schools, museums, university campus open days, career-related fairs. Aspirations for the future include working in the world of teaching.

His advice for current students is to reach out to systems of support, and that it is okay if you don’t have the future figured out yet. Julius found that deciding on a career path is a journey, and one that can be full of change and surprise. Lastly, he also advises having an open mind and being authentic in your choices. He said that university is a challenge and may not be for everyone, but he is thankful for the safe space university has given him while finding himself and his people.

Nathan studied A-Level Mathematics, Computer Science and Geography and after receiving his grades was successful in gaining his place at York St John University to study Computer Science.

Following his studies he hopes to enjoy a rewarding career in the cyber security industry.

Nathan’s advice to current Kingsmeadow students is that they recognise it’s important to take ownership of their own educational journey and to take every opportunity to work hard. He also reminds students that the teaching staff are always ready to provide support, but to get the most out of your education, you need to take the lead.

Skye studied Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology at A-Level in our Sixth Form and after receiving the grades she needed moved on to study Dentistry at the University of Liverpool.

Skye’s future plans are to become a specialist dentist in either paediatrics or community dentistry. Her ultimate dream is to eventually open her own dental practice.

Her revision advice is to not be afraid to push yourself out of your comfort zone and try new things as that is the only way to excel. Skye’s other tip is to remember that it is important not to compare your grades of revision to anyone else, as how you learn may be different. She also recommends the ‘blurting’ revision technique because it is a fun way to challenge yourself and what you don’t remember the first time, actually sticks going forward. Her last piece of advice is to not give up on your dreams – you can do it!

Jasmine studied A-Level Chemistry, Biology and Psychology at Kingsmeadow and is now in her fourth year at Newcastle University studying Medicine and Surgery.

In September 2025, Jasmine plans to take a year out to study for a Masters in Biomedical Research, and then finalise her fifth year Medicine and Surgery. Once her studies are complete, she will then choose which route to follow, by either becoming a Paediatrician or working in medical research and drug development.

Jasmine’s advice to current students is revising a little and often! Doing a small amount of revision every day means you’re prepared for exams, whilst still having time for a life outside of studying. She also advises using flashcard apps like Quizlet or Anki for content, and to put any questions that you didn’t get right in mock exams onto a flashcard too.
