Mathematics
Our Mathematics Department develops students, to be enthusiastic, independent, inquisitive, and resilient in their learning.
Year 7, 8 and 9 students
Our teachers deliver the curriculum using a mastery programme with key topics studied in greater depth to develop deep learning, rather than a superficial understanding. Students become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics. They develop conceptual understanding through reasoning and the ability to recall and learn to apply knowledge rapidly and accurately in a problem-solving context.
Year 10 and 11 students
Students will add breadth and depth to the solid foundations formed during their earlier learning. An interleaving curriculum ensures students regularly revisit and revise topics, develop an understanding and acquire new skills throughout the course.
All our students follow the same teaching pathway, and learning with more than one teacher ensures students are appropriately challenged, encouraged and able to succeed. Student friendly module worksheets and regular mini assessments empower our students to take ownership of their learning and helps to guide them with their revision for key GCSE assessments.
