On Thursday 2nd March, staff and students celebrated World Book Day, with a really positive and enjoyable day in school. There were reading related activities in lessons throughout the day, assemblies all week and both staff and students were given the opportunity to dress as their favourite book character, with some fantastic results!
Our student fancy dress prizes were awarded to: Sarina Zamini in Year 11 (third place); Kailey Shen in Year 8 and Georgia Robinson in Year 7 (joint second place) and Chloe Wear in Year 7 (first place), dressed as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz!
There were also staff prizes for the SEND department, as the characters from Alice in Wonderland and Miss Jefferson, as Mrs Birling from An Inspector Calls, one of our GCSE set texts!
World Book Day is a fantastic opportunity to discuss and celebrate all of the ways that books
and reading positively impact on our lives and on students’ learning. Hopefully these discussions will continue throughout the year! Many thanks to staff, parents and carers that supported with the day; your support is greatly appreciated.
