As part of the Music 6th form course, a range of visiting speakers have visited school to inform students about their roles and how to navigate their way through the music industry.
The musician speakers, whose jobs include performer, composer, live sound technician, studio technician and events organiser gave talks on various aspects of the industry including booking gigs, signing record deals, organising festivals and working in recording studios. The speakers also discussed with the students how to get into and maintain a freelance Music career as well as the potential pitfalls in this kind of work.
The speaker series was arranged to bring to life one of the units studied on the course in which students have to understand different roles within the industry and be able to arrange and budget for a Music event.
Many thanks to the musician speakers so far: Liam Gaughan, Jamie Toms, Nick Pride.
