Two Sixth Form students are celebrating following their success in the national Chemistry Olympiad.
Designed to challenge and inspire, the UK Chemistry Olympiad gives students the opportunity further develop critical problem-solving skills, learn to think more creatively and test their knowledge in new, real-world situations.
Budding Year 13 chemists Grishma and Tanvitha entered the competition to develop and showcase the skills they learning and will use in their future studies and career.
Miss Smith, Teacher of Science said: “Royal Society of Chemistry’s annual Chemistry Olympiad competition is an incredibly difficult competition which includes applying content and abstract concepts to a very high level, some of which students may have never come across before. Grishma and Tanvitha did incredibly well in the Olympiad and each should be very proud of their bronze awards.”
Mr Barrett, Headteacher said: “Grishma and Tanvitha have been two absolute stars throughout their entire time at Kingsmeadow Community School. In some ways it isn’t a surprise that they have turned out to be such exceptional sixth form students. However, the level of knowledge and application that they have demonstrated to achieve so highly in the Chemistry Olympiad is truly outstanding. We are so very proud of them.”
