The entrepreneurial spirit was palpable as our Business Studies students embarked on a journey of discovery at Newcastle University’s Entrepreneurial Insight. Guided by their teachers and fueled by curiosity, our students immersed themselves in the world of entrepreneurship, eager to glean insights from seasoned professionals.

The event, held at The Catalyst on Tuesday, March 12th, featured presentations from four esteemed entrepreneurs, each with a unique story of resilience, innovation, and success. Sam Spoors, Founder of Talentheads, captivated the audience with her candid account of overcoming setbacks and building a thriving recruitment agency in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. Atul Malhotra, COO of Malhotra Group, shared his experiences driving growth and acquisitions within the leisure industry, offering valuable lessons in leadership and strategic planning.

Charlotte Staerck, Founder of The Handbag Clinic, enthralled the audience with her journey from a passion for luxury handbags to the creation of a multi-faceted business empire. Her story resonated with our students, emphasizing the importance of pursuing one’s passions and leveraging digital marketing skills in today’s competitive landscape.

Finally, Rez Gachcar, the serial entrepreneur behind Mud Daddy, shared his insights into innovation and adaptation, urging students to embrace failure as a stepping stone to success.

Throughout the event, many of our students exemplified the highest standards of behavior and engagement, actively participating in discussions and asking insightful questions. Their enthusiasm and professionalism were commendable, reflecting positively on our school community and showcasing the potential of our future business leaders.

As Assistant Headteacher, I am immensely proud of our Business Studies students for their exceptional conduct and eagerness to learn. Events like the Entrepreneurial Insights provide invaluable opportunities for our students to broaden their horizons, explore their passions, and gain real-world insights into the world of business. I have no doubt that the experiences gained from this event will continue to inspire and motivate our students as they pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Newcastle University and the event organisers ‘NE1 CAN’ for providing our students with such a enriching and transformative experience. Together, we are shaping the leaders of tomorrow and empowering them to make a positive impact on the world.
