Over recent months our History Department has worked closely with the Holocaust Educational Trust, and hosted Testimony 360, a virtual reality study of survivors’ memoirs. Students have also taken part in the Lessons from Auschwitz Project for the last two years. This learning has enabled all Key Stage 5 History students to have the opportunity to be part of this unique educational experience.
On 12 November 2024, three of our Year 13 students and Miss Vincent, the Head of History, had the opportunity to embark on a day of education, discovery and remembrance with a trip to Poland, visiting both Auschwitz and Birkenau.
Students learned about the Holocaust, one of the darkest moments in human history; hearing directly from Holocaust survivor Rabi Shaw, and visiting the former Nazi concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.
Upon their return they will share what they have learned on their important and poignant visit with their peers, schools and local communities.
