On Thursday 19th January our year 12 Computer Science and Digital Media students were visited by Darren Yeomans, Studio Director for Atomhawk Design Ltd who specialize in art work for the video game industry.
Darren spoke to the students about his own career in the games industry, working for companies such as Codemasters and Ubisoft and on games ranging from ‘Dizzy’ for the Amiga console back in 1992, right through to working on modern games such as ‘God of War’ and ‘Fifa’.
Students learnt about the different roles within the games industry, from being a ‘games tester’ to a ‘producer’ or ‘programmer’. Darren also told students about many video games jobs based in Gateshead and the benefits of working in the games industry.
