All students are expected to be onsite by 8:30am.

Following the release of the Government guidance for full reopening of schools year groups will be treated as bubbles from September 2020.  This will mean ensuring, as far as possible, that year groups do not mix for any length of time.  To enable this to take place the school day will temporarily be adapted to build in time needed for wellbeing and support of students as well as catch up time.   This will also enable time in shared areas to be split up so that year groups are kept apart.  This will be in place for the Autumn term, and then reviewed, hopefully reverting to the normal structure from Jan 2021, depending upon the state of the pandemic at that point.

An additional session from 1:55pm to 2:45pm will be incorporated into the day and will be used for the following:

  • Year 7, 8 and 9 - Optional homework sessions, supported by staff

  • Year 8 and 9 - Targeted catch-up sessions (students identified by staff)

  • Year 10 and 11 - Catch-up sessions

The 10 minute tutor period will become a check-in time as well as facilitating the splitting of the cohorts for break. The 30 minute tutor slot linked to lunch allows vital pastoral support work to take place without collapsing school days. This will be carefully planned and tutors will play an important role in encouraging students to feel safe and confident once again in school.

Tuesdays then allow staff to take part in a weekly programme of professional development specifically aimed at advancing still further the quality teaching and learning from 1:55pm to 4:30pm. From September this time will also be used for Year 10 and Year 11 students to catch-up and complete key work affected by the lockdown, staying in school until 2:45pm. In the first instance this will be given over to coursework or unit completion in the option subjects. The period 6 timetable will operate on other days of the week between 2:45pm and 3:45pm for all other subjects. These period 6 sessions and the Tuesday session will form the first layer of support for our Year 10 and Year 11 students in catching up missed work and time.
