Who is this course for?

This course is for people contemplating a first degree or career in  Biochemistry • Medicine • Veterinary Science • Engineering • Pharmacy and many other fields.

 

What do you need to apply for the course?

You need to have four GCSEs including Combined Science or separate sciences and Maths at grade 5 or above.

 

What are the key things you'll learn?

Over the two years you will study a variety of practical, theoretical and applied Biology topics including:

  • Biological molecules  

  • Cells  

  • Organisms exchange substances with their environment

  • Genetic information, variation and relationships between organisms  

  • Energy transfers in and between organisms  

  • Organisms respond to changes in their internal and external environments

  • Genetics, populations, evolution and ecosystems

  • The control of gene expression

Year 12 - 2 90 minute external exam papers

year 13 - 3 120 minute external exam papers

This course is for people contemplating a first degree or career in  Astrophysics • Medical physics • Physics • Engineering • Electronics and many other fields.

You need to have four GCSEs including Combined Science or separate sciences and Maths at grade 5 or above.

 

What are the key things you'll learn?

Over the two years you will study a variety of practical, theoretical and applied Physics topics including:

  • Measurements and their errors

  • Particles and radiation

  • Waves  

  • Mechanics and materials

  • Electricity  

  • Further mechanics and thermal physics

  • Fields and their consequences

  • Nuclear physics
