Parent Update - 3rd September 2020

At Kingsmeadow School we have been working hard to make our environments as safe as we can in preparation for the return of students next week. We have undertaken a thorough risk assessment which has been written following Government guidance and with the support of the Local Authority. In terms of preparations to ensure safe movement around school, there will be one way systems, staggered breaks and lunches and restricted zones for year groups during break and lunch time and for the start of each day, so that year group bubbles do not mix.

Sanitiser will be available in all classrooms and in key areas around the school, with students required to sanitise as often as is possible.

Please refer to guidance already published about face coverings and their expected use both in school as well as on both public and scholars transport.

Uniform will be expected as in any school year, including PE kit. It may be the case that students will have to wear PE kit on days when they have this lesson, but this will be confirmed on the first day of term. All students should be in full school uniform on their first day.

The parent protocols have been shared highlighting important key expectations and restrictions due to Covid -19, so I would ask you to remind yourself of these.

Food will be available from the main canteen at lunchtimes, but due to Covid-19 students will not be able to purchase any food at break time. Due to Covid-19 we have installed a new face recognition system to allow students to continue to use electronic payment. Water fountains will also not be available around school, but students will be able to access water at break and lunch from the canteen areas.

  • Monday 7th September - Staff Training Day (school closed to students)

  • Tuesday 8th September - Year 7 Induction Day 1 and Year 12 Enrollment

  • Wednesday 9th September - Year 7 Induction Day 2 and Year 12 and 13 Induction Day

  • Thursday 10th September - School reopens to all students. All students to be onsite by 8:30am.

Year 12 enrolment will take place on Tuesday 8th September, Year 12 and Year 13 Induction will take place on Wednesday 9th September. Further details will be issued by Mr Hood, Head of Post 16.

All staff will be working hard over this coming term to support students back into school life. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if there is anything you feel you wish to discuss.
