All of our Y7 students have been on an educational visit to Gurdwara Singh Sabha in Newcastle during the last couple of weeks. This was an amazing enrichment opportunity designed to motivate and inspire our pupils, enabling them to get a better understanding of the subjects they were studying and to further investigate what beliefs and practices are carried out by the Sikh community.
Religion is weaved into the fabric of our society and has been for many centuries and providing REAL opportunities for our students to experience and learn about the different religious groups within our local community can help us to enhance and engender a more tolerant society for us all.
The students thoroughly enjoyed a kind, friendly and informative welcome from our Sikh host at the Gurdwara, Mr Cloud Singh, and we are proud to say that he commented on the exceptional respectful behaviour and eloquent speaking from our students. The Gurdwara was a wonderful place to see and our students benefited greatly from this ‘REAL’ experience.
