Consent to administer medication
Medication should only be taken in school when it is essential, and where not to do so would be detrimental to a child’s health. Whenever possible medication should be taken at home.
For the school to administer medication, the parent or carer must first provide consent. This consent is required for:
- Paracetamol/calpol for minor illnesses.
- Prescribed medication by a doctor, dentist, nurse prescriber or pharmacist and can not be administered at home (e.g. to be given 4 times a day).
