CORONAVIRUS (COVID 19)
INFORMATION FOR PARENTS
Due to the recent announcement by the Government that all UK schools must close due to the spread of Coronavirus until further notice, I am writing to officially notify you that Kingsmeadow School will be closed to the majority of students from Monday 23 March 2020 until further notice.
Government guidance states clearly that if it is at all possible for children to be at home, then they should be. Students may only be in school from Monday 23 March 2020 if they meet the published criteria for vulnerable students or have parents who are classed as key workers and no alternative arrangement for childcare is possible. We expect this, in the main, to be lower school students. This is to limit the potential spread of the Covid-19 virus.
Examples of these key workers include NHS staff, police and delivery drivers who need to be able to go to work. Vulnerable children include those who have a social worker and those with educational health and care plans.
The Government has advised that children should not be left with older relatives who may be particularly vulnerable to the Coronavirus.
Kingsmeadow staff have been working hard to devise a learning plan to ensure that students still have the opportunity to continue their studies remotely. Please find details of our emergency education plan below.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the closure, please do not visit the school but contact via phone or email.
Although external exams will not be taking place this year, the Government will be releasing information as to how end of course grades will be administered. This will be shared as soon as it is made available to schools.
Thank you in advance to parents, carers and students alike for their support during this testing time. Remember: if you or your child feels ill and you want to know what to do next, please use NHS 111 online.
I would also like to take this opportunity to wish you all well. Please keep checking the school website, which will be the main source of communication, throughout this period.
