Nissan Engineering Event

On Monday 18th January 2010 we took the Stemnet Club plus a group of Year 7 students to a fantastic annual event at the Nissan production plant in Sunderland.  The aim of this event is to encourage students to see the importance of all kinds of engineering jobs needed to make any industry successful.

After a short journey a very excited group of students emerged from the coach – dressed in high visibility jackets and hats, as well as the most amazing head phones, which allowed us to listen to our guide during the tour of the car factory.

The factory was amazing!  What better way to see CAM in action.

We followed the shell of a car along the automatic production line and watched as every employee added a component to contribute to the finished product.

Our guides for the day were actually employed on the production line and were able to give us lots of interesting information about the factory.

On several occasions we were complimented upon the wonderful behaviour of our students.

Not only did we enjoy a fascinating visit to Nissan, but we left with a gift for every student – an eco friendly torch powered by kinetic energy.

Looking forward to next year!
